What better way to help launch Liverpool as the European Capital of Culture than Merseyside's renowned LEAP contemporary dance festival. Now in its 16th year, LEAP promotes dance in its many guises and aims to create a positive, lasting impression on audiences. From the mesmerising choreography of Torifune Butoh-Sha & Kayo Mikami, to the dynamic and powerful movement of the all female B-girl Ballerinas, Decadancetheatre, Leap truly has something for everyone.
MDI continues to support local emerging and established artists by creating performance opportunities within our own events- Community Dance Showcase, North West Moves and New Moves Liverpool.
Highlights of this year's festival include local and newly established company Taciturn, who have collaborated with New Art Club's Tom Roden to create a quirky and innovative work. New Moves Liverpool provides a platform for local and emerging artists, welcoming the return of House of Suarez, who have made a real impact on the Liverpool dance scene since their inception in 2006.
